Advisory

The Advisory Panel was constituted within the Bourne-Epsom Protocol (BEP) to provide expert guidance on the technical aspects of AI in education. The panel recognises the complexity of the AI landscape and aims to leverage its technical expertise to ensure that the Protocol can navigate this terrain safely and effectively.

Objectives

The Advisory Panel’s primary objective is to support the Practitioner Panel in making recommendations about the use of AI in schools and colleges. This work will include scrutinising and recommending AI technologies and technical pathways that align with the mission of BEP. The panel will work towards demystifying the technical aspects of AI and providing clear, practical recommendations to the Practitioners Panel for trial and evaluation in schools.

Scope

The Advisory Panel’s scope extends to the technical dimensions of AI in education. It will review and evaluate AI technologies, applications, and systems. The panel, however, will not directly participate in the application of these technologies within schools – this is the remit of the Practitioners Panel.
