AiEd response to Sir Anthony Seldon and Tim Bunting’s Ten-Point AI in Education Action Plan

AiEd warmly welcomes Sir Anthony Seldon and Tim Bunting’s Ten-Point AI in Education Action Plan. It is a timely and important contribution to a debate that must now move beyond whether AI has a place in education to how we lead its adoption responsibly, equitably and with clear educational purpose.

We particularly welcome the emphasis on leadership, AI literacy and preparing young people for an AI-rich future. Schools and colleges need more than access to tools. They need the confidence, knowledge and structures to decide where AI can improve education, where caution is required and where human judgement must remain paramount.

This is precisely why we developed the AiEd Certified Framework. Our new AiEd Leadership Series complements the Framework by placing school and college leaders at the centre of this work. It explores how leaders establish a clear vision, build staff confidence, put policy before product and move their organisations from initial exploration towards purposeful innovation. The message is simple: successful AI adoption is a leadership and educational challenge, not merely a technological one.

The Action Plan also reinforces two principles at the heart of AiEd’s work. First, AI readiness should be an entitlement for every pupil, not an opportunity determined by a school’s resources or a family’s circumstances. Second, responsible leadership does not mean adopting AI indiscriminately. It means evaluating its educational value, protecting children and staff, and ensuring that technology strengthens rather than diminishes the human relationships on which great education depends.

We commend Sir Anthony and Tim for helping to raise the ambition of this national conversation. AiEd looks forward to playing its part by helping schools and colleges translate that ambition into confident leadership, practical action and demonstrable benefit for learners.
